Marina Sirtis was born in London to Greek parents. Her parents did not want her to become an actress but as soon as Marina completed high school, she secretly applied to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After her graduation, she worked in theatre and her early roles on British TV included episodes of Raffles, Minder and The Return of Sherlock Holmes. In 1986, she moved to Los Angeles for six months. Just before her work Visa was up, she got her big break; the part of Counsellor Deanna Troi in all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. She reprised her role in the four TNG feature films Generations , First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis and episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and Enterprise. Marina has appeared in more than 70 TV shows and films. Her TV series appearances include Stargate SG-1, Family Guy, Without a Trace, Grey's Anatomy and NCIS. Her films include the oscar winning Crash, Spectres, Green Street 2, InAlienable and 31 North, 62 East.
In 1992, Sirtis married musician Michael Lamper. She often attends Star Trek conventions. Marina is a fan of Tottenham Hotspurs and an animal lover.
